The work Progressão (2016), created by Felippe Moraes, is a flag installation made up of 26 pieces, each measuring 70 × 100 cm. Arranged along the access ramp of the Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói, they present a chromatic sequence that moves from absolute black and gradually progresses to white.

Each one bears the inscription of a percentage that follows this tonal transformation. The first indicates 100% black and the last 0%. Between them runs a continuous scale of grays, in four-percent intervals. The numbers follow the same mathematical principle, but in chromatic inversion: while the background becomes progressively lighter, the characters shift from white to black.

The work brings the precision of numerical logic into relation with the sensory experience of landscape. The flags flutter constantly under the region’s sea winds, introducing movement into a structure based on calculation and regularity. This dynamic intensifies the dialogue between mathematical progression, architecture and the open horizon surrounding the museum.
