The video Panthera Lemniscata (2021), directed and conceived by Felippe Moraes, presents performer Márcia Pantera in a science-fiction scenario centered on the hair-flip gesture.

Awakened from a cosmic sleep, the artist begins an intense, continuous movement that reaffirms a foundational gesture of Brazilian drag culture as a visual event charged with symbolism.

The soundtrack by the duo NoPorn drives the performance’s frenzied rhythm while strobe lights fragment the movement into rapid successions of images.

The body in motion creates a pulsating visual field, celebrating Márcia Pantera’s legacy as a precursor of a central aesthetic within Brazil’s drag and nightlife scene.

The title refers to the lemniscate, a geometric form used as the symbol of infinity in mathematics.

The repetitive hair-flip movement traces trajectories in the air that evoke this continuous curve, bringing performative gesture, mathematical thought and queer force together.

Panthera Lemniscata (2021) is part of the trilogy created by Felippe Moraes dedicated to artists from the LGBTQIA+ scene, placed in unexpected conceptual situations.

The series also includes The Drag That Said Phi (2017) and A Tábua de Esmeralda (2022).

In each of these works, artists connected to nightlife culture appear discussing themes such as mathematics, cosmology or spirituality.

By bringing distinct cultural universes together, the group proposes a reflection on how different traditions of knowledge can meet and generate new visual narratives.
