Matter is Felippe Moraes’ first international solo exhibition, held at MK Gallery. The show brings together a body of work developed early in his career, weaving together photography, sculpture, and installation around investigations into measure, geometry, matter, and perception.

The project presents works such as Divisão (2011), ½ (2012), 16kg para entortar uma árvore (2012), Totem 1 and Totem 2 (2012), among others, in which operations such as cutting, repetition, displacement, and measurement are mobilized as formal and conceptual procedures. Fragmented trees, invisible forces, and geometric structures run through the works, creating situations in which the real oscillates between evidence and construction, between physical fact and symbolic elaboration.

Raphael Fonseca’s curatorial text proposes a reading of these works through the tensions between systems of measurement and sensory experience, suggesting that even structures considered stable carry deviations and instabilities. Within this context, the exhibition opens a field of reflection where mathematics, language, and the world intersect, revealing the complexity of the ways we attempt to understand and organize reality.
