Revolução: Faça Você Mesmo (Revolution: Do It Yourself), 2017
Sublimation print on fabric
90 × 70 cm
Revolução: Faça Você Mesmo (2017) proposes a simple, do-it-yourself gesture carrying great symbolic power. The flag presents a black field with a circular dotted line suggesting a manual cut in the fabric. The work invites viewers to imagine removing this circle, turning the opaque surface into an opening capable of revealing what lies beyond it.
The work grows out of the memory of the Romanian Revolution, when protesters tore the state emblem out of national flags after the fall of the authoritarian regime. The resulting void became an emblem of political transformation. That collective gesture crosses time and reappears here as a simple procedure anyone could carry out.
By proposing a circular cut, the work also activates the literal sense of the word revolution, associated with the movement of turning or revolving something upon itself. The opening suggested in the fabric turns the flag into a field of passage. More than an object, it functions as a silent invitation to imagine possible change.
