Entranha (Innards), 2010 – 11
dry-wall e latão polido
180 x 70 x 20cm

The work Entranha (Innards) (2010-11) , created by Felippe Moraes, consists of an intervention in drywall that reveals an inner surface of polished brass. The piece presents an irregular hole produced by successive hammer blows, as if the wall had been violently opened to reveal something hidden within it.

By breaking through the outer layer of the architecture, the work exposes a golden surface that seems to exist silently behind the wall. The metallic sheen contrasts with the opaque materiality of the drywall and creates the sensation that another space is revealed within the structure. The gesture of breaching the surface turns the wall into a passage and suggests the presence of a parallel reality.

This luminous opening evokes ideas associated with alchemy and spirituality. The gap produced by the hammer’s impact functions as a symbolic portal where the everyday and the extraordinary meet. The work suggests that behind the seemingly stable surfaces of the world, there may exist a hidden field where the fantastic manifests itself silently.
